Instrumentation

As far as I am concerned, the definitive book on instrumentation is Measurement Systems by Ernest Doebelin [1]. I had the pleasure of taking a class from him in graduate school and he is a god among men (or, at least, among engineers). This book has information on every kind of measuring devices that a mechanical engineer would want to use. I will go over the highlights of common vibration instruments here.
